A 33-year-old Kabale man has been jailed since Monday (Nov. 21) on suspicion that he raped a 6-year-old girl in his home in Kekubo cell in Central Division, Kabale Municipality, records show.
Kabale Police station booked Ephraim Katwaaza with first-degree rape based on the allegation from the young girl that he had sex with her inside his home. The Child Africa Junior School, Kabale pupil told her story after she was seen coming from the suspect’s house while crying at around 5pm on that fateful day.
According to arrest documents, the girl told investigators that Katwaaza gave her a biscuit and ordered her to undress, took off his own clothes, then was “loving” on her. The girl described Katwaaza kissing her, touching her buttocks and having sex with her even though she was scared. She told detectives the encounter ended “because her mother was coming home from work,” the report said.
Katwaaza, employed as a procurement officer at the Uganda College of Commerce in Kabale is a notorious offender.
Elly Maate the Kigezi regional police spokesman said that after the incident, Katwaaza tried to run from Kabale town but was apprehended.
The man is accepting enticing the toddler with a biscuit but denying the pair had sex.
