The High Court Lands division has issued an arrest warrant against the Attorney General William Byaruhanga, Permanent Secretary and Secretary to the Treasury, Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development

Keith Muhakanizi and the Director General of the External Security Organisation Amb. Julius Ocwet after finding the trio guilty of contempt of court.

Justice Andrew Bashaija ordered police to arrest the trio and commit them to civil prison for 30 days  for failing to honour several summons that required them to appear in court and explain why they have taken over 20 years without paying rent dues to Popat Ramunikal, the owner of plot 12 Army Avenue which is housing  ESO offices.

Court documents show that Ramunikal demands over UShs 35 billion from government as rent arrears hence seeking court’s intervention as repeated demands proved futile.
