Jovino Akaki: Man to watch in Apac Municipality elections

Former State Minister for Wildlife, Tourism and Antiquities, Jovino Akaki Ayumu is the NRM flag-bearer for Apac Municipality ahead of the Member of Parliament election. Apac is one of the newly created municipalities.

Akaki polled a total of 3,036 votes against 1827 votes that were polled by his only rival Patrick Okello Chono.

Akaki was declared the winner by the district NRM party registrar, Robert Oyuru Eper.

The former Minister Akaki shall tussle it out in the main election with other candidates including the UPC candidate, Patrick Ochan. The rest are independents and they include – Rev John Robert Atim Etime, Jacob Otim, Bishop Engena Maitum and former Apac district woman Mp Lucy Ajok.

Akaki, a teacher by profession resigned his job in 1996 when he joined politics and was elected as the area Member of Parliament on the NRM ticket for Maruzi County in Apac district. He lost his seat to David Ebong Abongo in 2006.

 

The Electoral Commission has scheduled June 28th, 2018 as the date to conduct the election of various elective positions in the newly created municipalities.
