Authorities in Mitooma District are ready to prosecute three young men who were recently nabbed with stolen cattle.

Pretazio Kasimiire, the Officer in Charge of Criminal Investigations Department Mitooma District, identified the suspects as Turyahabwe Bukye and another only identified as Masasi. Police are hunting for another suspect identified as Meshach Naturinda.

“We found them selling the cattle; we have recorded their statements and have sent the file to the Resident State Attorney for guidance. We shall present them to court,” said Kasimiire.

the trio is believed to be the masterminds of several cattle thefts in Bushenyi, Mitooma, Buhweju, Rubirizi and Sheema districts.

A parish councilor, Eldard Baine believes the three are connected to an incident on April 12th in Kirambi 3 village in Ijumo Parish  when there was theft of 19 cows belonging to one resident identified as Kajwarire and another 10 cows belonging to Muramuzi on May 05th.

The Ankole cattle corridor is experiencing a drought.
