The Uganda Investment Authority Board Chairman, Dr Emeley Kugonza has said the law will take its course, and the interdicted UIA boss, Jolly Kaguhangire will vacate office.
Kaguhangire was interdicted on Tuesday by the UIA board and sent on a three-month forced leave over a litany of allegations including abuse of office, corruption, insubordination, misleading and lying to the board. But in a defiant letter, sent by Kaguhangire on Wednesday, she made it clear she will not leave office.
She argued that the board had no quorum when it decided to interdict her, and the meeting was called on short notice.
But Kugonza explained that the board meeting was supposed to be held on Thursday, however Kaguhangire requested for the meeting to be brought forward because of urgent matters. He further states that the meeting was attended by 10 members, and Kaguhangire signed as the eighth member in attendance.
Kugonza adds that the board meeting was scheduled as per the Uganda Investment Authority Act.
