IMF boss Ms Lagarde in Uganda to hold talks with Museveni

The managing director of the International Monetary Fund is making her first visit to Uganda to encourage the global community to support a country whose economy is attempting recovery from lower than anticipated growth in the past years.

Ms Christine Lagarde, the first female IMF boss arrived in Uganda at 7:40pm on Wednesday evening from the conflict ‘shattered’ Central African Republic.

Today, Ms Lagarde will visit the Centre for Domestic Violence Prevention. She will then have bilateral talks with Mr Museveni, at the State House in Entebbe before give a public lecture themed; ”becoming a champion, Uganda’s development challenge” at the Kampala Serena hotel on Friday.

The meetings will emphasize the broader macro-economy of Uganda and also address matters like debt and investment among others.

From Kampala, Ms Lagardehe will proceed to Mauritius for a conference on cross border banking and regulatory reforms in island country.

Uganda joined the IMF on September 22, 1963.
