After members of Parliament tasked senior government officials to present an explanation for the killings of women around Nansana and Entebbe municipalities, the Minister of Internal Affairs, Gen. Jeje Odongo has succumbed to pressure and given an official response.

On Monday a young woman’s body was found dumped at a car washing bay in a Kampala suburb, bringing to 21 the number of women killed. Police announced Tuesday they had arrested a suspect in that case, a man found hiding at a traditional healer’s shrine.

Gen. Odongo explained 8 of the 9 murders in Nasana municipality are said to have been for ritual sacrifice by a businessman using a known criminal.

Odongo told Parliament today that, businessman, Ivan Katongole facilitated the murder of the women in the believe that it would enhance his businesses including his commercial building under construction at Kasenyi landing site.

“There is strong evidence linking suspects and Katongole. Some suspects were found with forms given to them by Katongole to enlist in Illuminati. Others have 999 (sign of Illuminati) tattooed on their bodies. Katongole is physically linked to the death of Nakimuli Rose because he was in her company the night she was killed.” Gen. odongo told legislators on Thursday.

“In the case of Nansana municipality murders, eight of the 9 women were murdered by one criminal gang for ritual scarified purposes. The prime suspect Ibrahim Kawesa confessed that he had been contracted by Phillips Tumuhimbise to kill 12 women to draw blood for ritual performance to enhance wealth,” he added.

Last week, 12 people, were arraigned before a Chief Magistrates Court in Nabweru and charged with terrorism, murder and aggravated robbery. They had earlier been arrested over the women killings.

The dozen suspects were remanded to Luzira Prison until September 12 when they will re-appear in court for mention of their cases.

“To date 44 suspects linked to these murders have been arrested, 22 of who have been charged in court,” Gen. Odongo added.
