The Minister of State for General Duties Mary Okurut says the Government will help people affected by hailstones in Nakaseke district.
Okurut was responding to a matter of national importance raised by Nakaseke South MP Lutamaguzi Ssemakula who said the lives of some people especially those in Semuto have been devastated by the recent heavy rains.
Okurut noted that several regions of the country have been affected by storms and floods and that her ministry has put in a request for relief funds from the ministry of finance.
She promised that Nakaseke will be given priority.
The Minister for Finance Matia Kasaija said it would also be advisable to consider sensitizing communities on protecting the environment to avert disasters.
The speaker Rebecca Kadaga noted that the government should allocate money in the next financial year for the Tree Fund.
