Out-going DCJ Steven Kavuma delivering MP Wakayima’s fate today

The Court of Appeal is this morning set to deliver its ruling determining the validity of the election of Nansana Municipality MP Wakayima Musoke Nsereko.

Last year in July, Highcourt judge Vincent Okwanga nullified Wakayima Musoke’s election and instead declared NRM’s Robert Ssebunya as Nansana Municipality MP.

Justice Okwanga cancelled Wakayima’s victory on grounds that he was nominated in error, as his name does not appear any where in the entire voters’ register of this constituency.

Justice Kavuma has in the past been criticized for a number of infamous court orders previously issued

Justice Okwanga in his decision wondered why Wakayima applied for registration of National ID in the names of Musoke Hannington Nsereko but instead used different names during nomination.

Wakayima did not agree with this decision and appealed to the Court of Appeal.

Three justices including the out-going DCJ Steven Kavuma, Cheborion Barishaki and Hellen Obura heard his appeal.
