After a stellar conference in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil last year, Uganda will become the first African country to host the Global Aeronautical Information Management Association Conference, this month.

The two-day event dubbed “Global AIM KAMPALA 2017” will take place at the Serena Hotel Kampala from 23rd to 25th and bring together the aviation industry’s over 200 top players and exhibitors of the latest trends under the illustrious International Federation of Aeronautical Management Association (IFAIMA).

“This is a very big platform to globally showcase Uganda’s tourism potential and improve our aviation safety by learning from the best AIM professionals,” said Mr. Vianney Luggya, Civil Aviation Authority’s Manager Public Relations.

“During the 2015 conference in Hanoi, Vietnam, my colleague Daniel Bateeze and I had a first class feel of the Global AIM and thus very convinced that Uganda will be greatly impacted by the 2017 edition,” he added.

The local body that brings together aeronautical information management professionals is called Uganda Aeronautical Information Service Officers Association (UGAISOA).

Uganda won the bid to host through Mr. Luggya’s department and that of Entebbe International Airport’s Aeronautical Information Management officer, Mr. Andrew B. Kakakubya.

CAA Uganda has just completed automation of the Aeronautical Information Management processes at Entebbe Airport.
