The current ongoing drama involving controversial Uganda Cranes coach Mulitin Micho Sredojevic and local football governing body head Moses Magogo is set to mature into a high paycheque for both parties, TheUgandan understands.

According to Uganda Cranes captain Denis Onyango, Micho who left Uganda yesterday could be unveiled by South African giants Orlando Pirates next week on a Shs82 million (300,000 Rand) monthly deal but his pre-planned stunts means that at Micho’s $10,000 monthly pay, Fufa stands to be paid $100,000 (Shs360 million) for the remaining ten months of the contract. Fufa president Magogo would then use part of this money to clear the coach’s outstanding arrears of Shs230 million.

And Uganda’s State Minister for Sports Charles Bakabulindi is not bothered. “They (Fufa) entered a private agreement with the coach. There is no way we could come in,” he said.

This development comes after the Uganda FA reportedly failed to clear Sredojevic’s salary and bonuses arrears. When we tried to reach Sredojevic on Tuesday night he said he was on holiday in Ethiopia. “I am on holiday in Addis Ababa. All others stories need to be disregarded as mere speculations,” he said in a message.

Since taking over as Uganda Cranes coach in 2013 Sredojevic has guided Uganda to qualification for the 2014 and 2016 Africa Nations Championship, 2017 Afcon and winning the 2015 regional Cecafa Senior Challenge Cup. The Cranes are also the only team in the Cecafa still in contention for a 2018 FIFA World Cup place.
