The opposition Forum for Democratic Change has called for the immediate resignation of Deputy Chief Justice Steven Kavuma for issuing what the Speaker of parliament Rebecca Kadaga termed a stupid order against oil money debate.

Justice Kavuma issued an interim order last week stopping parliament and anyone else from investigating or debating the Shs6bn oil cash that was shared among 42 government officials in the now unpopular presidential handshake.

Addressing journalists at the party headquarters in Najjanakumbi on Monday, the party spokesperson Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda said Parliament should not wait for Justice Kavuma to retire in September because the order he issued is a disgrace to the Judiciary.

“Kavuma should never have been a judge, but now that he is, he should be dismissed with disgrace because he has disgraced the Judiciary which all of us submit,” Ssemujju said.

Mr Ssemujju praised Speaker Kadaga for the bravery she has exhibited amidst Justice Kavuma’s “stupid order”.

He also commended the speaker for the letter she wrote to President Museveni of having the conduct of Kavuma investigated asserting that parliament should not wait for the investigations but kick him out immediately.

“We should get rid of him from Court and have all his decisions he has taken terminated from the record of Court to avoid students studying law to making references to his stupid orders” Ssemujju said.
