Christmas Day, celebrated globally on 25th December of each year, at Speke Resort Munyonyo is about enjoying local and exotic food as the world celebrates the birth of the most iconic personality in the history of mankind – Jesus Christ – the pillar of Christian faith.
And like it has been in recent years, the five-star hotel will treat its customers the sumptuous Around the World Christmas Lunch Buffet at Speke Resort Poolside. The lunch will cost only Shs175, 000 for adults and 75, 000 for children under 14 years comes with a complimentary glass of festive bubbly wine.
The hotel chefs, have in that respect assembled a mouthwatering Christmas menu which will leave revelers spoilt for choice and feeling their money’s worse as they munch on a variety of foody delicacies.
On the menu will be the starters which include the garden salads, compound salads, cold cuts, condiments, dips, bread and soups that will be served before the main dishes and desserts.
The garden salad include mixed lettuce, arugula, broccoli, cauliflower, tomato wedges, carrots, cucumber, Brussels sprouts, pickled onions, mango pineapple salsa, beetroots, avocado slice, snow peas and beans, sprout with peppers, mixed beans, cherry tomatoes, sweet corn, artichokes, red cabbages, grilled vegetables and red reddish while compound salads will include the tradition greek salad, raw mango salad, Thai papaya salad and Russian salad.
The cold cuts have a cheese platter, meat platter, and seafood platter while condiments boost of gherkins, capers, green/black olives, jalapeno chilies, green chili, sun-dried tomato, roasted nuts, herbs, and garlic croutons.
The dips have roasted garlic, fresh herbs, chili and plain olive oil, cocktail, garlic mayonnaise, tartar, red wine vinaigrette, white wine vinaigrette, balsamic, malt vinegar, honey mustard, lemon juice, baba ganoush, humus, guacamole, caesar, roasted tomato & chili salsa, and sweet chili dip.
The breads have house-made assorted whole breads, focaccia, multigrain and cheese, and flavored rolls. The soups will include cream of butternut flavored with white wine and herbs, vegetable broth with fresh basil breadsticks, white soft and brown bread rolls.
The main dishes will be served in what they have described as ‘live stations’, categorized live carving stations, live BBQ grills, live street Indian, live Pasta, live naani bread, and hot buffet.
The live carving stations will have roasted whole turkey flavored with garden herbs, cranberry sauce & gravy roasted suckling pig with Robert sauce, slow-roasted lamb leg mint sauce, honey glazed gammon ham.
The live BBQ grills station will have cajun chicken & beef brochettes, charcoal-grilled pork chops & ribs, skinned Nile perch filler, English style fried Tilapia fillet & chips, sliders of lamb & chicken, sausages with mini rolls.
The live street Indian station will have masala dosa, utapa, idly, sambhar, coconut chutney, pav bhaji, mixed bajia, batata vada, masala papad & vegetable samosa while live Pasta will have penne, fusilli, spaghetti & macaroni – assorted condiments & tomatoes basil, balognaise, creamy cheese, pesto
The hot buffet will have braised osso bocco with red wine & mushrooms, shepherds pies, baby carrots, French beans, spinach, Brussels Sprouts, steamed basmati rice, biryani rice & raita, roast Parisian potatoes with fresh herbs, steamed matooke, groundnut sauce, cottage cheese & peas masala, pigs in blanker, stuffing & onion gravy.
Guests will then crown the food experience with an array of dessert options including the live Christmas cookies with toppings (kids corners), Christmas chocolate, Christmas plum pudding, mixed nut mint pie, Christmas U logo, eggless cake chocolate & vanilla, Christmas chocolate rum balls, linger tart and orange torte.
Also on the dessert menu is the lemon backed cheesecake, vanilla & chocolate pyramid, mango mousse, assorted glass mousse, Christmas cupcakes with toppings, Christmas fruit cake, opera cake, banana cake, tiramisu, coconut gulab jamun, fruits cut & whole fruits, pan cakes& waffles whipped cream, chocolate custard, passion, mango, caramel, butterscotch, strawberry and vanilla.
