Criminal Summons have been issued to Sylvia Muhebwa Ntambi, the Chairperson Equal Opportunities Commission to appear before the Anticorruption court on 7th/October/2020 after she failed to appear today Wednesday.
Ntambi has 3 counts on her head that include conspiracy to defraud and corruption.
Muhebwa is jointly charged with nine other Commission officials who are facing 26 counts that include Embezzlement, and Causing Financial loss to Government.
Prosecution led by Edwin Amanya applied for summons against Muhebwa because she is the only suspect that has not taken plea in this case whose investigations are already complete and the matter should be now for trial.
She was expected to appear in the dock today at 9: am to plead to the charges but did not appear under unclear circumstances. It is not clear which reason(s) Mrs. Ntambi gave for failure to come to court.
It is reported that Ntambi feared to set her foot at the Kololo based court after she informed that very many journalists were eagerly waiting for her arrival.
Present at court were two officials from the commission and another female individual whom we learnt that she was one of her would be sureties.
At 10: am, the three individuals left the court premises followed by the resident state attorney ending hopes of Ntambi appearance.
Armed with 3 bags and parcels, Mrs. Ntambi was last seen yesterday evening in the corridors of the office of speaker of parliament Rebecca Kadaga where she sought for her intervention.
It is however indicated that speaker Kadaga did not give her chance to meet her.
It is also indicated that Mrs. Ntambi had put shs 4m on the table for court officials to help her save her head from being sent to coolers.
Sources close to her also say the troubled EOC was planning to forge medical documents not to appear before courts on grounds that she is sick.
