Diana Ampaire has officially been nominated to contest for the position of National Female Youth Member of Parliament under the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) for the 2026–2031 term.
Ampaire now joins a competitive race within the NRM as aspirants from across the country seek to carry the party’s flag in the upcoming general elections. Her nomination marks a significant step in what she describes as a collective journey of purpose and advocacy.
“This is not just my journey — it is ours, for us and through us — championing our voices,” Ampaire declared shortly after her nomination.
Her campaign message, “A Centered Agenda,” calls for inclusive, focused leadership that prioritizes the needs and aspirations of Uganda’s young people. She has appealed to youth leaders from Northern, Eastern, Central, and Western Uganda to rally behind her vision.
“I humbly call upon the youth leaders across all regions to join me in shaping a focused, united agenda for this generation,” she said.
Known for her activism around youth empowerment and education, Ampaire’s bid is expected to resonate strongly, particularly among female youth leaders seeking greater representation at the national level.
The NRM will conduct internal primaries in the coming weeks to determine its official flagbearers for various elective positions ahead of the 2026 general elections.
