Court Martial ‘turns away’ AIGP Col Ndahura Atwoki in kidnapping case

AIGP Col Ndahura Atwoki, a senior army officer and current head of police’s Directorate of Crime Intelligence has failed to enable the release of jailed former commander of the Professional Standards Unit Senior Commissioner of Police, Commissioner of Police Joel Aguma accused of allegedly kidnapping former Rwandan president, Paul Kagame’s bodyguard.

Presented by Aguma as one of his three sureties, AIGP Col Ndahura was found not substantial by the Makindye General Court Martial chairman Lt. Gen Andrew Gutti and Defence counsel Frank Kanduho.

Court found out that AIGP Col Ndahura never requested for permission from the Inspector General of Police.

He also never presented a single document to court showing that he was allowed by the IGP to stand surety as required by the law.

CP Aguma and other suspects including SSP Nixon Agasirwe were this year arrested in relation to the alleged 2013 kidnap of Lt Joel Mutabazi, a former presidential guard in Rwanda, and Jackson Karemera who were reportedly deported back to Rwanda.

The Court Martial has now deferred the case to January 16, 2018 as investigations continue.

Caleb Alaka, one of the lawyers CP Joel Aguma, recently blasted the General Court Martial in Makindye for being biased in delivering justice.
