Veteran journalist Reverend Isaac Bakka Onzima has been further remanded to Luzira prison by the Nakawa chief Magistrates’ Court on charges of Treason and concealment of treason.
On Wednesday, Bakka appeared before Chief Magistrate Jamson Karemani on Wednesday to find out how far investigations have progressed, but State Prosecutor Ann Ntimba indicated that investigations are still ongoing.
The case was then adjourned until 11th April 2018.
Bakka is a freelance journalist with BTN and Nile FM in Gulu.
Prosecution alleges that Bakka connived with three other people to contrive a plot to overthrow the government of Uganda between January 2017 and January 2018 within various districts in Uganda and in other countries such as Kenya and South Sudan.
It is alleged that Bakka, Godfrey Asea, George Ngungu and Innocent Mawe expressed this plot through making utterances, acquisition of firearms, recruitment of individuals into armed forces and renting of apartments.
The 4 men are also accused of failing to report to the security minister or any security organ information about a treason plot.
