Renowned Jamaican reggae sensation Jamar McNaughton, better known as Chronixx serenaded Reggae lovers last weekend in a Festival dubbed the Pulse Mega Fest. The event that promises to be part of the Ugandan social calendar was organized by MTN Uganda and Talent Africa.

By midday, revelers had started flocking the Sheraton gardens to enjoy the Festival that was preceded by a festival that lasted all afternoon, laced with multiple music acts. Before the main act, revelers were treated to hot music mixes from DJ Ras Brown, DJ King, Sir Aludah and DJ Naselow.

A hot line up of local artistes such as Beenie Gunter, Cindy, Rabadaba, Natty Neithan and Nina Rose and Butcherman among others warmed up the expectant crowd.

To set the mood, seasoned roots reggae artiste, MaddoxxSsematimba set the crowd ablaze with a walk down memory lane that saw the adored Rastafarian perform his all-time loved hits such as Munakyalo, Irene, Take it easy and Namagembe that had the whole crowd singing along.

At 10pm, The Reggae sensation took to the stage where he put up a two-hour performance that sent the revved up crowd in a frenzy as lovers waved flags and sang along to his hits such as Here Comes Trouble, Skankin’ Sweet, Smile Jamaica, Aint no giving in, Black is beautiful, Ghetto Paradise and Big Bad Sound among others.

The Festival did not fall short of fun activities. The youth who are signed up to MTN Pulse were treated to a range of fun activities in trendy settings to accentuate their enjoyment of the festival. From a fun walk through maze to a pulse Island and a Tidal music booth, there were more than enough activities to keep the revelers engaged as they geared up for the evening performances. Draws were held and two lucky youth walked away with MTN Ka-Fit smart phones.

Although it was open to all, the Festival was a celebration of the first anniversary of MTN Uganda’s youth platform; MTN Pulse, which has had a phenomenal success where youths have connected with the brand. MTN pulse provides subsidized calling rates, data bundles, internships, trendy content among other benefits to its subscribers.

The day’s MCs, Deedan and Salvador did not fail to impress the happy, charged and entertained crowd.
