Child sex-abuse victim Sheebah Karungi goes nuclear on ‘dead’ father

It’s a confession that goes against nature. But if you listened to singer Sheebah Karungi’s shocking story and you may just start to understand.

Sheebah this week reenacted her life story and swears that the public will never know her biological father. She says he was never there for her and now she is successful.

“I have one parent. I don’t have parents,” she says in an interview with Kampala Sun’s Julius Senyimba.

“I hear he is still alive, but for all i know, he is dead to me. Just know my mother (Edith Kabazungu) is my father,” she goes around the subject.

“I don not have any connections with him. I cannot talk about visiting my father. I don not know whether he has ever visited me,” she angrily points out.

“I do not even know his name because it does not matter to me. He will not have a taste of my success, whatsoever!” she emphasises.

Sheebah is set to hold her debut Album Launch dubbed Nkwatako Album Launch due December 2 at Hotel Africana, Kampala with tickets at 20000/- ordinary and 50000/- in VIP.  It will be followed by two events at Satellite Beach, Mukono and Freedom City, Entebbe Road on 3 and 4 respectively. Her 2016 Kisasi Kimu hit earned a MTV African Music Awards (MAMA) ‘Video of the year’ nomination.

Sheebah’s other hit songs include: Go Down Low, Twesana, Wadawa, Ndiwanjawulo, Ice Cream, Nkwatako and Farmer remix.

BTW … we’re told Sheebah is a typical juvenile delinquent. She ran off from school and her home in Kawempe when she was only 15 years, went to the streets where sleeping on an empty stomach was a routine. She used to sleep in empty churches and Bwaise bars after patrons had left. Sheebah’s best friend since 2005 Angel Nakitende, also revealed that the Nkwatako singer then a struggling kimansulo (stripper) dancer sometimes slept on the streets when chased out of bars.

As you know … Sheebah was the subject of child sex abuse. The sexy singer lost her virginity at 15 years to a man she only remembered as Lambert while still sleeping in dingy bars.

It was hysterical she said and does not remember much or how many men she had intercourse with thereafter. “I was only 15 and that is so many years ago. I don not think it matters now,” Sheebah said.

It definitely holds up. She even changed her name from Samali Karungi to Sheebah Karungi to erase that tragic part of her life.

So, now you know how and where Uganda’s top music diva has come from.
