Rain, heavy road traffic and absence of invigilators have caused delays in the delivery and commencement of Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) examinations in many sitting centres around Kampala.
104,361 candidates registered for the exams. UNEB has deployed over 700 scouts and at least 8,000 invigilators to monitor the exams.
In sample schools visited by URN today, the examinations that were supposed to begin at 9am couldn’t kick-off as question papers and invigilators had not yet arrived at some sitting centres because of the morning showers.
At Kitante Hill School with 179 candidates, the exams commenced 30 minutes late as two invigilators had not yet arrived. This forced the school Head-teacher, Rose Izizinga, to consult with the Area Supervisor who approved redeployment of a Uganda Certificate Education Chief Invigilator at the school to step in.
