In the news recently, it was disclosed that Uganda’s major food invention, the Rolex, was one of the fastest growing foods in the whole world. The story was shared, tweeted, and all that but one thing was clear, Ugandans embraced the news and just like that, everyone now wants to eat Rolex!
One person who didn’t take the story lightly was Uganda’s outgoing Miss Tourism, Enid Mirembe, who hails from Busoga. Enid thought and thought till the idea of a Rolex Festival hit her. And just like that, Uganda is bracing itself for the very first Rolex Festival scheduled for this Sunday, 21st August, 2016 at the Uganda Museum grounds.
Kampala Rolex Festival is a brainchild of Enid who in her initial statement was looking for a way to fight the stigma that surrounds the Rolex. It should be remembered that the inventor of the Rolex is Musoga but the stigma around the two had to be stopped one way or the other and since it was now in the international news, what better way to start the stigma fight than embrace it.
It’s no wonder that so many people are gearing up to be at the Uganda Museum this Sunday. The list is endless and includes celebrities, socialites, ordinary Ugandans and a lot of people. Among those gearing up is Busoga Yaiffe Chairperson and Busoga Kingdom Tourism Minister, Hellenah Namutamba.
Owek. Namutamba Hellenah confirmed her presence at the do in a 12th August 2016 Facebook post on her timeline.
