After winning Rwanda’s biggest rally event; the Mountain Gorilla rally last month, Valery Bukera is hoping to extend his victory to the Uganda Pearl of Africa rally.
The final round of the African Rally Championship will run from 16-17 September in Busiika and Mubende.
And the Burundian driver will be attempting the Pearl rally for a fifth time.
“I don’t really know what to expect as it will be the first time to go that side of Mubende region.”
“Our goal is to finish without any problems and then see how the results will be,” he said.
Bukera will also be eager to get the monkey off his back after failing to complete all four past Pearl events he has competed in.
“I remember in 1998, I was time barred and mechanical problems forced me out in the rest.”
“That’s the reason why our first goal would be to finish the rally and the rest follows,” says Bukera.
Bukera will have Nital Khetia calling the pace notes in a Subaru Impreza N10.
Bukera and Khetia will be joined by other three Burundian crews of Ronshanali Mohamed, Sultan Kalula and Giancarlo Davite for Pearl rally.
