Lugogo Cricket Oval proved to be a memorable spot during the International Labour weekend for revelers thanks to standout performances from among others, two foreign musical acts that bookended the region’s best picnic-style music festival.

Kenya’s Muthoni the Drummer Queen (pictured up) and Scandinavian group band – Daniel Lemma & Hot This Year were two of the most talked about performers who weren’t household names around town but Uganda’s best dancehall female singer Cindy Sanyu, and the legendary Afrigo Band didn’t disappoint, either at the 17th edition of the Tusker Mal Lager sponsored and House of Deejays organized Blankets and Wine Kampala.

DJ Rachel set the day’s funfair rolling with her mixes and later revelers were treated to performances from rising stars Pelindah, Joash, Essie, Apio Moro and Byg Ben who had the crowd dancing to some afro-fusion music in the afternoon.

Maureen Rutabingwa, the Tusker Malt Lager brand manager said; “We gave the line-up a boost of energy and people enjoyed discovering new talent! For Tusker Malt, we will continue to always make Blankets and Wine a memorable time and show appreciation to our consumers by giving them the best premium experience.”

As the night fell, Daniel Lemma and Hot this Year took to stage to and performed some of their big hit songs such as; Call you, Still water, Mr. Hibbert, among others.

The band mesmerized the crowd with deeply honest music driven by soulful roots reggae beats as well as classic pop and electronic elements.

On their first trip to Kampala, Daniel Lemma and Hot this Year took to stage to and performed some of their big hit songs to the crowd’s delight.

Kenya’s Muthoni the Drummer Queen later came to stage to an already psyched up crowd and continued to fire it up with her hit songs such as; Squad up, Life, Make it right, and Turn on the lights where she featured Uganda’s Hip Hop star The Myth.

It all mixed nicely with her smooth sultry vocals and provocative dance moves.

“She’s killing it. It’s just her voice, how she sings and what she says,” said Kansanga resident Monica Mwangi, who was dancing throughout Muthoni’s set. Like many in the crowd, she sang along to the songs Muthoni performed.

Muthoni said few words to the crowd but what she did say seemed heartfelt.

“This has been one of the most special experiences of my life,” she said with a smile towards the end of her set.

Before the Kenyan artiste, Afrigo Band had taken to stage, with revelers in anticipation for yet another memorable experience as they sang and danced to the band’s timeless hits such as; Olundelebu, Okwagalanakwaffe, Ekitobero, Mundeke, Nantongo.

When the day’s main act Cindy Sanyu came to the stage after Muthoni, she was welcomed to an enthusiastic crowd that went on to sing along to her songs. Cindy’s dance crew entertained the revelers with astonishing dance moves as fans pitched in to dance along.

“I love you, too. I love you so very much,” she said.

Cindy and her queen dancers put up an energetic performance to cap a wonderful day at the Tusker Malt Lager sponsored event.
