Former presidential candidate Dr Kizza Besigye has said his trip to United States will help him take a break from his continued harassment form state agencies, especially police, reports The Insider.
“Just taking off for Amsterdam. I’ll have a weeks break from harassment by rogue State institutions.
Have a great week tweeps!” Dr Besigye said last night before setting off for his US trip hours after police blocked him from leaving home in Kasangati Wakiso District to attend court and funeral service of one of his friends at All Saints Cathedral Nakasero.
His trip to US is timely, given the fact that US had of the recent past given the four time challenger I president Yoweri Museveni a cold shoulder.
Also, the US trip comes just weeks after Besigye returned from another trip in Europe where he said he had mobilised Ugandans in the diaspora for the FDC cause.
