As we reported earlier, former leader of the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC), Dr Kizza Besigye who is facing treason charges, has been arrested following his continued attempt to move around the city.

Dr Besigye, who is currently being held at Kira Division Police Station, had earlier appeared before the Nakawa Chief Magistrate’s court for the mention of his treason.

In a tweet, Besigye said: ‘We’re parked in compound of Kira Division police. Patrol vehs parked all round our vehicle. Doors lifted by levers & pepper spraying inside.’

Police towed his car from Uganda House in Kampala, where he had gone to meet his lawyer Ladislaus Rwakafuzi.  Earlier Besigye was pictured receiving money from his supporters at the same spot.

Meanwhile, High court has revised the bail terms for Dr.  Besigye, the former Forum for Democratic Change-FDC party presidential candidate

While releasing Besigye from two months remand in Luzira Prisons on July 12, 2016, Justice Wilson Masalu Musene ordered him to report to the Deputy Registrar of the Criminal Division of the High Court every two weeks.

However, High court has now revised the time from two weeks to a month. To that effect, Mary Khainza Eleanor, the Deputy Registrar of the Criminal Division of the High Court, has extended Besigye’s bail up to December 16, 2016.
