Rubaga South MP Kato Lubwama has bragged that he is educated to the level of a professor moments after Makerere University defended his academic credentials.
Mr Lubwama said that if he was in a different country, he would be a professor.
“The truth is that I am educated. The problem is that this is Uganda; otherwise I am at the level of a professor. That is the level I am at,” said Mr Lubwama.
Mr Lubwama’s confidence stems from a January 11, 2017 letter from Makerere University where the institution, through the Academic Registrar Alfred Masikye Namoah backed defended his academic papers as genuine, arguing that he sat and passed the required examinations.
“Mr Kato Lubwama sat and passed the university special entrance Examinations as a bonafide candidate, having fulfilled all the requirements for admission for that programme in 1992. He was consequently admitted to pursue a diploma in Music Dance and Drama which he successfully completed in 1995 and was awarded a diploma in MDD by Makerere University on the 20th January, 1995,” part of the letter seen by the Ugandan reads.
According to the letter, the current regulation guiding the university Special Entry examinations came into force in the year 2008 and therefore nobody should challenge Lubwama’s documents.
Lubwama attacks Besigye
Mr Lubwama who appeared on a local TV station accused Dr Kizza Besigye and FDC members of trying to eject him from parliament, adding that God has lifted him and nobody can undo that.“I will repeat it; Besigye must grow up and must be disciplined. Let him stop those things of backstabbing his fellow Generals. If he continues like this, time will come when he will be left alone with no one to fight the battle alongside him,” said the comedian who is now a legislator.
He added: “All the troubles I am facing were brought by FDC members. How do I identify FDC supporters who are fighting me and those who are not?
Some people are too jealous of my success, they have done all sorts of tricks including sticking out their teeth, but Kato Lubwama is going nowhere.
An emotional Lubwama added that: “When the Lord God lifts someone up in good spirit, you cannot pull down such a person. God lifted me up, I want people to accept.”
