Dr Kizza Besigye says loud-mouthed journalist Andrew Mwenda is attacking him because he’s ‘attacking me gives him the attention & cash he needs!!’
The four-time presidential candidate criticized his former ally and the Independent Magazine proprietor on social networking website, Twitter on Thursday hours after Mwenda had appeared in an interview on NBS Television and accused Dr. Besigye of being angry, delusional and lacking fact.

Dr Besigye said, “Finally got it,” before imploring that Mwenda is attempting to use (Besigye’s) name to build his own political career. “Mwenda plans a launch into politics. (He) Believes attacking me gives him the attention & cash he needs!!”
The strong rebuke comes after weeks of silence from the opposition kingpin who Mwenda has subjected to serious attacks saying, ‘Adolf Hitler in Germany emerged exactly in the same manner as Besigye today. Besigye is a potential Hitler; his fanatics, the gestapo.’
Mwenda also says Besigye and his supporters ought to reflect on the means to changing government that they are using and to promote the values they (through their leader) espouse. Mwenda artfully raises statistically reflect-worthy criticisms of Besigye. The recordings end with Mwenda saying“…wasn’t that too provocative?”
Today, Besigye’s fury, which seethed out of him in a stunning soliloquy on very public social media, amounted to a moment of historic significance: a people’s potential president castigating one of the people who for so long tried to help him ascent to the highest political office in Uganda as beyond the political norms of the opposition, Forum for Democratic Change party itself.
