Former Forum for Democratic Change presidential candidate Dr. Kizza Besigye has blamed the current hunger and insecurity in the country on the mismanagement of politics at a press conference in Kampala on Thursday.
This follows yesterday’s move by parliament to move a motion that state of emergency over shortage of food be declared in the country.
Besigye said that there is indeed a crisis but the crisis is not only on food but there is a security crisis, economic and political crisis which must be addressed.
He noted that the crisis doesn’t just fallen but has been in the making for quite some time. He also attributed a food crisis in the country to government’s failure to put in place a proper agriculture Policy and poor investment in the sector.
Besigye noted that the country has no food reserve, no irrigation system and agricultural basis system, saying government only cares about their priorities.
