Opposition kingpin and former presidential candidate Dr Kizza Besigye has announced plans to swear in the members of his ‘People’s government’ as one of the activities to disable the ruling regime after the presidential age limit was passed into an Act of Parliament by President Museveni.
Besigye said opposition will continue to call on the public to join them to regain the country.
Speaking on Thursday at the launch of his new ‘Tubalemese campaign’, on Katonga road in Kampala, Dr Besigye said his government will serve the interests of Ugandans since the MPs in the 10th Parliament have betrayed the citizens.
He also said that all Ugandans should confront the 317 Judas (MPs), boycott their businesses, protect their land and ensure that LC1 elections are conducted free and fairly.
“Awakening and empowerment of our citizens is going to be high on our agenda. The regime has employed many people to mislead our people.”
“We shall be launching a national assembly for our country. It will include people’s representatives from the 317 constituencies that were betrayed by their supposed representatives. Otherwise the 317 MPs will be trashed.”
“These representatives that betrayed people are going to be subjects to total isolation and rejection. We are going to isolate them socially, politically and economically. Let us boycott their shops and schools. If you’re supporting the military junta in any way, you will be risking the wrath of the people of Uganda.”
“If we identify you, we shall add you to the list of those that will be similarly treated like the 317 MPs. The campaign we should all be part of is the campaign to fail the regime that is holding the country hostage. Our option of non violence is deliberate. We can bring down the regime without throwing a stone.’
“This is a scientific process. The regime today is at its lowest point. It has never happened and nobody has questioned themselves how it happened because it has been happening very slowly. Any junta relies on security. The security is dysfunctional today and that is why you have all these killings and nobody can respond to them. Museveni is now a visitor to victims.”
