It’s been called totally wrong by the government.

Travel security specialist International SOS have released their annual Travel Risk Map for 2017 and it makes for scary viewing.

Uganda carries a high risk status – the threat of terrorism, the biggest worry for holidaymakers at the moment.

The map filters risks into medical, travel security and road safety.

For travel security – risk of terrorism and the like – most of your holiday favourites get a low or insignificant risk rating.

The medical filter is slightly more alarming: a vast swathe of beige denotes ‘rapidly developing variable risk’. That sounds a bit like ‘we’re not sure what’s happening here but you don’t particularly want to find out’.

Basic emergency services and dental care may be available. Specialist care is limited. Access to quality prescription drugs may be limited and, in some cases, counterfeiting and/or improper storage of drugs is an issue. Serious infectious diseases such as typhoid, cholera, dengue fever and malaria may pose a threat.
