Balyeku’s TV station to go on air soon

The rumours and anticipation that played out for a great part of 2015 and early this year with regard to Jinja West MP Balyeku Moses Grace venturing into TV business might soon come to pass. Latest inside scoop shows that everything seems good to go and that Jinja will have a second TV staion soon.

BMG, as we wish to refer to the youthful politician, promised to set up a TV station after successfully running a radio station, and everyone paid attention. He reiterated this promise at BABA FM’s 2015 Ekitudha concert to a thunderous applause from an already incensed audience but fell back on his timelines.

When the promise wasn’t fulfilled in the said time, people came up with all kinds of theories as to why the TV station wasn’t coming soon, the weirdest being that BMG’s arch-nemesis Nathan Igeme Nabeta, being UBC board chairman, wielded some significant influence and had blocked the progress of the project as part of his bargaining chip in their ongoing ego battles; we cannot verify that assumption though.

We were able to speak to some insiders in the BMG circle and we were told there were so many issues with what had to be done, why, where, when, and how. However, it was disclosed to us that the biggest setback has been with the mast, licence, and some equipment and that arrangements were made to make the facilities available ASAP.

The station will occupy where Bax Bar’s big conference centre was and a quick look at the space shows that there is progress and that with the mast up in the next few days, the TV test will be on in two weeks from now as plans get underway to set up the entire facility.

We are not yet sure who will be at the helm of all this but speaking to our source, BMG seems fed up of being played by his own and is going to tread more carefully this time.
