Bright Stars’ captain, Baker Lukooya testifies his new role at the club has encouraged him to serve above self.
The left footed winger scored a stunning overhead first time volley for Bright Stars in their 2-1 home victory against BUL at the Champions stadium in Mwererwe.
The former Kira Young and KCCA player dedicated the superb goal to the mother, Winfred Nabukenya.
“If there is anyone who has motivated me in my career, then it has always been my mother.It is therefore befitting to dedicate such a goal to her.
“Being the field captain too, motivates me to work even harder to live by example. I am a leader and proud to be captain at Bright Stars just like i was at Kira Young years ago.
Lukooya had a silent epoch last season with the Bright Stars’ team after his transfer from Kampala Capital City Authority.
He admits, the transition has been long over due; “I have settled in well finally.Last season, things did not transpire well for me but now that i am mentally settled, physically fit since i work hard both on the field and off field, the fruits are now been seen.
This season, Lukooya has scored two goals and had a couple of assists to his name.
On the overhead scissor kick against Bul, Lukooya is quick to add, it was a well worked goal, a result of continuous training.
“It was never a mistake goal, but rather, a worked out goal.I have also practiced overhead kicks and this was just another of the many i execute in training.
“I was so happy for the goal and my teammates on the day.
John Kokas Opejo scored the match winner after Titus Tibiita had leveled for Frank Anyau’s side.
To Lukooya, the goal even motivates him to work harder for the season has just started.
