The head of the Commission of Inquiry into land matters, Justice Catherine Bamugemereire has noted with concern that the Commission has never seen the kind of intimidation and threats to witnesses as is the case in the Region of Ankole.

The Commission on Wednesday morning started late because they had received information that the witnesses were being threatened and intimidated

Justice Bamugemereire has now requested all the witnesses, and their relatives and friends to report those intimidating them to the Commission.

She warned that the Commission will deal with anyone threatening witnesses, giving assurance thar they have the capacity to deal with any form of intimidation, no matter their influence.  She called upon the people of Mbarara to stand against these intimidators.

The Commission commenced its public hearings in Mbarara yesterday.
