Famous social media activist Tom Voltaire Okwalinga (also known as TVO) has alleged that while Police continue investigating the murder of Kenneth Akena, who was shot at Game Stores at Lugogo on Saturday night, controversial journalist Andrew Mwenda is busy trying to obstruct.
For some years now, TVO has been posting politically-charged information on his Facebook wall. His claim to know almost everything happening within the ruling establishment circles has earned him a lot of followers on social media.
Mr Matthew Kanyamunyu, the chief executive officer of Quantum Express Logistics, and his Burundian girlfriend, Ms Cynthia Munwangari, are still in detention in connection with the killing of Akena. Mwenda is allegedly a close associate of the suspect and has shares in Quantum Express Logistics.
Mr Okwalinga’s accusations are based on a photography uploaded on his Facebook page supposedly outside Jinja Road Police Station where Mr Kanyamunyu is being questioned.
He wrote: ‘ANDREW MWENDA IS HOLED UP AT JINJA ROAD POLICE STATION TOGETHER WITH A NUMBER OF SECURITY OPERATIVES TRYING TO INTERFERE WITH MURDER INVESTIGATION.THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE IN THIS PHOTO, THE KILLER MATHEW KANYAMUNYU IS SEEN TALKING TO SOME VISITORS.’
Mwenda’s aide has told TheUgandan they won’t comment since the matter is subjudice.

So it did not take much effort for TVO to push through a propaganda that calls for the allegations against Mr Mwenda to be investigated by the Police as the top journalist whose gun was used during the shooting.
Police arrested Mr Kanyamunyu and Ms Munwangari after the deceased gave a dying declaration to his brother, Mr John Nyeko, that he had been shot by the very person who brought him to hospital.
Mr Nyeko said Akena told him that while reversing his car in the parking lot, he accidentally knocked Kanyamunyu’s car and he shot him as he tried to seek pardon for the mistake.
Police said Kanyamunyu was still insisting he did not shoot Akena but was a good samaritan who rushed the deceased to hospital after he had been shot by an unknown person opposite Kyadondo Rugby Club adjacent to Game Stores.
