Police in Agago District have arrested a man notorious for breaking into people houses and raping women.

Confirming the arrest, Alber Onyango the Agago district police commander (DPC) said that Okello Patrick Wii, a resident of Lira Kato village, Lapono sub-county was netted on Sunday afternoon in connection with stealing of a cow that belongs to a woman the same village.

Okello was on Monday transferred from Kokil Police Outpost in Paimol sub county to Patongo Central Police station where he will be charged in court with thefts and burglary.

“We have the suspect in custody and we promise the public that we will bring him to book,” said Onyango while speaking on phone.

Another man identified as Ongom Franco Bosco from Kiteng Parish, Lacam Kweri village, Lukole Sub County is also being detained at Agago CPS for attempted murder.

Ongom tried to burn himself in a hut but was rescued by youth who later dragged him to Police. Statements recorded from the suspect shows that he had domestic issues with his family members.

Elsewhere, George Omara, a 41-year-old resident of Labwor okok village, Agago central parish on Wednesday morning burnt himself to death in a grass thatched hut, according to journalist Emmy Daniel Ojara.

Police said that the deceased first set the hut on fire and later entered inside where he met his death.

He said the deceased was mentally ill according to his father Baptist Omara. The DPC says the father and relatives of the man tried to rescue the situation but failed to pull Omara from the burning hut.

Authorities asked relatives of mentally ill people to keep close watch on them to avoid such happenings.
