After Oxfam ED, Ms Winnie Byanyima’s nephew Mathew Kanyamunyu and his lover Cynthia Munwangari had been released on bond by Police over suspicion of murdering Kenneth Watmon Akena a Kasese based social worker, stories of the victim’s life have also begun to surface — and all of them are absolutely heartbreaking.

According to family and friends, Kenneth was a young, jolly and friendly guy in Gulu where he went to St Joseph College Layibi and worked before moving to Kasese. He is from the known Watmon Family in Kitgum town.
His elder brother John Paul Nyeko revealed that Akena was set to have his traditional wedding ceremony with his finance from Gulu University next year in February. Now, instead of a wedding, the family and his friends are going to attend his funeral.
“He was a fine young man who had not disappointed our parents, a hard worker, friendly, sweet person,” his brother Nyeko said. “The Watmon family and all who knew him have lost a very humble young man.”
Akena, a child protection specialist based in Kasese District, was shot in the stomach at around 8pm on Saturday and later succumbed to the bullet wounds at Novik hospital.
Byanyima who is also wife to former presidential candidate, Dr Kizza Besigye, on Monday morning posted on her twitter handle, @Winnie_Byanyima saying: “My heart and prayers are with Akena’s family. Let justice be done. Matthew is my nephew. A tragedy for us too.”
