Africa has been recently plagued with a series of complex challenges, ranging from conflict to climate change. This is the reason the Parliament of Uganda will work with Resilient Africa Network (RAN), and incubation hub to tackle those challenges.
These problems have created shocks and stresses not just on the African governments but individuals to develop creative, inclusive, cost friendly and sustainable solutions that can easily be adapted by the primarily low income communities.
Makerere University’s School of Public Health which has long been at the forefront of developing solutions to tackle issues such as climate change, conflict, disease and rapid population growth and urbanisation has today reached a landmark agreement with the Uganda government to collaborate on how to support homemade innovations.
In a meeting held at Parliament today, the RAN Chief of Party Prof. William Bazeyo and Speaker of Parliament Hon. Rebecca Kadaga, discussed how the innovations developed at RAN can be scaled up to better meet the needs of the Ugandan people and generate government support for such innovations on a larger scale.
In a statement released today on their social media platforms by Mr.Nathan Tumuhamye the East Africa RAN lab Director shared their excitement on this new chapter in what is seen to be a step toward much needed government participation in developing a strategy for promoting resilience in the conflict stricken areas of Uganda.
