Without a doubt, Pastor Joseph Serwadda rings in the New Year with another spiteful speech.
While most Ugandans who have expressed themselves have viciously denounced the civil servants, not because the deal was illegal, but that it is insensitive and Pastor Joseph Serwadda, a truly rich individual thinks that: “Only lazy Ugandans who don not want to earn their bread through sweating are the ones calling top civil servants, divvied up a pile of Shs6 billion thieves.”
On Sunday while preaching on 98.5 Impact FM, that Serwadda owns, the man of God bragged about getting getting rich by using President Museveni. He segued into a sermon that focused insistently on the creation of wealth and the sin of poverty.
“It is us who take ourselves into bondage by being lazy!” he was saying.
“Some of us are stuck because we fail to respond to the miracles we have been given! The man (Museveni) gave us all a platform to be rich like Operation Wealth Creation and some broke people are allover social media complaining about important people like Ms Akol sharing just a simple Shs6 billion. The Museveni just gave them something small, a presidential handshake. There are so many jobs these lazy people can do and if they work hard they can as well be rewarded.”
He continued that Museveni signed off on the Shs6 billion deal to them because they worked so hard and lose at international arbitration in London a tax dispute with the upstream oil company, Heritage, and as a result bringing in $700 million.
Serwadda heads up the ‘5000 strong Victory Christian Centre in Kampala,’ along with his wife, Frida drawing huge poverty stricken crowds, preaching a provocative message that has proven as popular as it is controversial.
Under the so-called ‘prosperity gospel’, many these Pentecostal preachers tell worshippers that in return for donating huge sums of money, they will be cured of diseases or be rewarded in material wealth several times over.
Offering coins in Pastor Serwadda’s church is not allowed.
