A taxi driver’s attempt to dodge a cow which was crossing the road has Wednesday morning led to a fatal accident in Lwengo involving a bus and Fuso truck.
A taxi, registtation No. UAX 715G travelling from Lyantonde District to Kampala collided with a Global coach bus registration number UAU 710U and a Fuso truck loaded with cement at Kyawagonya in Lwengo District along Mbarara-Masaka Highway.
Greater Masaka Police says that at least 14 people are feared dead and nine others extremely injured.
According to the Lwengo District Police Commander, the taxi and the FUSO truck had stopped to allow a cow to cross the road.
Global Coach bus rammed into the taxi and the impact forced the taxi to ram into a Fuso truck from behind.
Among the dead is a journalist working for a local radio station in Lyantonde identified as Nahora Dennis, others include Nabukenya Teopista, Kavuma Zainabu ,Kigundu Leuziyo among others.
