Formerly interdicted Kampala Capital City Authority Physical Planning Director George Agaba is dead after a car he was riding in was involved in a nasty accident at 11.30am on Friday.
The Deputy PRO Police for Western Region Iddi Ssenkumbi confirmed the accident and said it happened at Nyamitanga along Mbarara-Isingiro road as Mr. Agaba, who was driving driving a government car reg: UG 0672D tried to dodge a bicycle rider in a sharp corner but the vehicle swayed off the road and overturned several times.
Mr Agaba was accused along with his bodyguard, Santos Komakech Makmot, of shooting and killing one person and injuring five others during a KCCA eviction exercise in Luzira in January 2012. The operation was to demolish illegal structures.
Mr Agaba and Mr Makmot were cleared of the murder charges by Nakawa High Court presided over by Justice Faith Mwondha.
KCCA spokesperson Robert Kalumba then said KCCA had interdicted him for the charges he was facing and when they were cleared, he returned to office but the ED Jennifer Musisi kept blocking him.
Our source tells us that by the time of his unfortunate death, Mr Agaba was a jolly man after successfully obtaining a letter from President Museveni to be retained in office at KCCA.
