As the journeys upcountry during the festive season commence, owners of bus companies to reallocate.
Winston Katushabe, the the secretary to the transport licensing board in the Minister of Works and Transport has ordered the them to from December 1st to load and offload from new designated places according to newly released guidelines.
“The bus companies plying the western route will henceforth use the Kisenyi Bus Terminal, those to the East will use the Qualicel bus terminal and those to the North and interstate will use the Namayiba bus terminal all in Kampala,” Mr Katushabe said.
The move has been designed following several complaints from passengers claiming that they were being confused on which terminal to go to and in the process their property, money and luggage were misplaced while others were stolen.
He also revealed that government had rejected a demand by bus owners and drivers to allow them make return journeys upcountry during the festive season.
“These vehicles must be rested. The law does not allow return trips for any journey above 300kms, and that’s it,” he added.
