Ms Molly Kamukama has been appointed President Yoweri Museveni’s Principle Private Secretary in the latest shuffle of the various ministry Permanent Secretaries.
A State House statement released today November 4th, 2016 said: “President Museveni has today November 4th, 2016 appointed and deployed Permanent Secretaries under article 174 (2) of the constitution.”
Ms Kamukama formerly the political assistant in the office of the NRM chairperson replaces Mary Amajo while Maj Edith Nakalema who in the last few months had virtually taken the responsibility of the PPS has been raised to become his personal assistant.
Ms Kamukama became so close to the president during campaigns and most sensitive matters were entrusted to her. She is an astute mobiliser and smooth political operator and run a unique campaign structure in Mbuya with a healthy budget and political communication bureau that swayed hundreds of thousands of votes to the incumbent.
Elsewhere, long serving Permanent Secretaries Kaliisa Kabagambe (energy ministry), Paul Steven Kagoda (ministry of internal affairs) and James Mugume (ministry foreign affairs) have been dropped.
