This was Uganda’s third consecutive title but 6th overall in 18 editions, and now five short of the record winners, Kenya.
The Uganda national golf team capped off another memorable golfing year by defending the East Africa Golf Challenge at the Addis Ababa Golf Club over the weekend.
Messages of praise came flooding from hundreds of Ugandans on social media and most notably President Museveni on his twitter handle, president Museveni said, “Congratulations to the Uganda Golf Team for winning the East African Golf Challenge in Addis Ababa. It’s their third successive victory.”
The first lady who also doubles as the minister of Education and sport also said, “Congratulations Uganda Golf team upon your 3rd win in a row in the EA Golf Challenge. I thank God for you. Keep it up
Overall, Uganda and Kenya finished on 16points, Ethiopia finished with 12 points, Tanzania and Rwanda followed with 8 and 2 points respectively. Uganda however won the challenge because of the defending champion status.
This is Uganda’s third consecutive championship having clinched the 2014 title at Entebbe Golf Club and the 2015 trophy at at the par-72 Kigali Course in Nyarutarama, Rwanda.
This year’s championship, which bring together five countries; Ethiopia, Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda and eventual winners Uganda.
