Sixteen-time Uganda champions SC Villa edged out eternal rivals Express FC 3-2 in a Premiership game played at the Mandela National Stadium in Namboole on Saturday evening.
The Jogoos moved to position two on the league table following their win, while the Red Eagles remain in seventh on the 16 team log having played a game more.
It took only three minutes for Saddam Juma to fire Express into the lead scoring into an empty, much to the delight of the away fans.
However, Umar Kasumba equalised for SC Villa in the 16th minute after some clumsy defending in the Express defence by Bob Kasozi and Farouk Matovu.
Kasumba then put the hosts in lead six minutes later when he beat Express goalkeeper Kigunddu Ali with a well timed header from a superb Godfrey Lwesibawa cross.
A few minutes after the halftime break, Express substitute Simon Sserunkuma ensured that the game stood at a 2-2 stalemate with a half volley.
On song winger Lwesibawa won a penalty for Villa a minute after Express scored an equalizer when Bob Kasozi brought him in the 16-area and former Ounduparaka winger Tabu Vitalis slotted home the resultant spot kick.
