Kalanda’s performance swung between the sublime and ridiculous
Frank Kalanda scored again and youngster Alan Kayiwa netted from close range in a disjointed performance as Soana beat Proline 2-1 away at the Philip Omondi Stadium in Lugogo on Friday.
Kayiwa struck seventeen minutes before halftime to cancel out Fahad Aziz Bayo’s headed goal that the home side ahead in the 26th minute.
Kalanda sealed the win after earning and then slotting away a chance from teenage star Kayiwa on an evening in which his performance swung between the sublime and ridiculous.
The maverick forward still had time to slice a dreadful effort off target as he remained centre stage right to the end.
The victory, a hard one to earn moves Sam Simbwa’s side provisionally up to third ahead of the rest of the weekend programme.
Action continues on Saturday with Express seeking hurt eternal rivals SC VVilla in Namboole while coachless Police FC welcome Jinja Kirinya SS.
Villa are currently third on 18 points from nine games while Express sit seventh on the 16 team log having played a game more.
