Going by their FUFA Big League record, Onduparaka’s Greenlight Stadium is no easy ground to visit. Maiden visitors in the current Uganda Premier League only managed to pick a point.
Reigning league Champions KCCA FC left with crest fallen faces as they lost their fast game of season 2-1.
A brace by sharp striker Mohamed Shaban in the second half was enough to halt KCCA’s backline that struggled with aerial balls in moments when it mattered the most.
The visitors looked like they were up to the task in the first half with Timothy Awany keeping Shaban quiet while Brian majwega who replaced injured Joseph Ochaya at left back also looked impressive.
Onduparaka’s Ivan Mbowa though took charge of matters in the midfield, frustrating Muzamir Mutyaba, Ivan Ntege together with Hakim Senkumba.
But it was Mohamed Shaban who beat an offside trap to go one-on-one with Benjamin Ocean, the former made no mistake has he calmly slotted home after 47 minutes.
The second was probably even sweeter than the first. Shaban beat both the KCCA defense and goalie to watch his ball bounce into an empty net four minutes latter.
At the time, the city lads had just brought on Sulaimon Akinyemi for the tired Mutyaba in the 64th minute. The Nigerian pulled one back four minutes later.
Derrick Nsibambi and Geoffrey Sserunkuma led the KCCA front line but their was minimal creation coming through the midfield.
