Mercy Kanyesigye has been elected Youth Chairperson for Kasagama Sub County, marking a significant milestone in her ongoing journey of youth leadership and empowerment in Uganda.

In an X message to her supporters, Kanyesigye who is an aspirant in the National Female Youth MP contest, expressed deep gratitude, calling the victory “a shared commitment to uplifting our community and empowering every young person in Lyantonde District.”

Kanyesigye, who has steadily built a national profile as an advocate for youth development, legal rights, and inclusive governance, pledged to use her new position to champion quality services, create opportunities for young people, and tackle challenges affecting the youth.

“This victory is not just mine but ours,” she said in her official statement. “Together, we will work tirelessly to ensure your voices are heard, your dreams are nurtured, and our sub county thrives.”

Her election has been met with widespread enthusiasm, especially among youth groups in Lyantonde who view her leadership as a beacon of hope in addressing issues like unemployment, limited access to education and skills training, and the need for greater civic engagement.

Known for her “anti-clockwise thinking,” Kanyesigye has promised a bold and inclusive leadership style, urging the youth to unite as they work toward a brighter future for Kasagama and the broader Lyantonde District.
