The US embassy in Uganda has revealed that it is tracking reports that opposition leader Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine was arrested on Thursday.
“The United States is tracking the concerning reports that opposition leader @HEBobiWine was taken into custody at Entebbe airport today and has been detained at his home. Reports indicate that opposition supporters were also detained. Respect for freedom of assembly and allowing political parties to operate freely are fundamental values of democratic societies,” reads a tweet from the US Embassy.
According to Ugandan authorities, Bobi Wine was escorted to his home in Magere from Entebbe International Airport.
