President Yoweri Museveni has pardoned 833 prisoners.
This development was revealed the Uganda Prisons spokesperson, Frank Baine, on Monday saying the president did it on compassion grounds.
He also urged Ugandans to adhere to the lock down rules announced by the President last month.
Uganda has 76 cases of coronavirus with 47 recoveries and no fatalities.
