To help customers shop and pay for things faster during the festive season,  local microfinance bank Centenary Bank is encouraging people to embrace the use of alternative banking channels that are digitally-driven.

The bank this week launched a promo dubbed “Cente Christmas” for the next eight-week launched at Capital Shoppers, Ntinda in Kampala.

Speaking at the launch ceremony, Ms. Beatrice Lugalambi, the General Manager Corporate Communications and Marketing, Centenary Bank, remarked thatCentenary Bank currently has the biggest Agent banking network with close to 4,000 Agents countrywide.

“Our customers have the opportunity to bank in their neighborhoods during this festive season and be rewarded on top of enjoying the convenience it brings,” she said, adding that, “Last year, we rolled out our Visa Debit card to enable our customer to carry out cashless transactions in a more secure environment, and today, we are the largest issuers of Visa cards in the country with over 870,000 cards and this number will further increase by the end of the year.”

Ms. Lugalambi further noted that, “Our bank has made several enhancements and upgrades on the CenteMobile banking platform thus you our customers can now pay URA taxes using the CenteMobile and also use the MasterPass QR Code to pay for goods and services at various merchants and you will be rewarded for these transactions”.

These channels are meant to help minimize the need for customers to travel long distances to access services, since a good number of them live in the rural areas. Other benefits that customers can enjoy are saving on their valuable time and transport costs as well as the convenience of transacting anytime, anywhere.

Mrs. Immaculate Ngulumi, the Chief Manager Marketing and Branding explained that the Cente Christmas campaign will focus on promoting usage of three alternative channels namely; CenteAgent, CenteMobile and CenteVisa.

“Customers who transact a minimum of three times weekly using any of these channels will be rewarded with millions in cash, gift baskets and shopping bonanzas,” Ms. Ngulumi remarked

The customers will be rewarded for transacting using CenteVisa, CenteAgents and CenteMobile.

The prizes are categorised into three tiers and will be awarded at the weekly draws held every Friday.
